Montreal Protocol Phase-out Schedule Accelerated

On September 21, 2007, the 191 Parties to the Montreal Protocol unanimously agreed to accelerate the phase-out of ozone depleting substances (ODSs), including hydrochloroflurocarbons (HCFCs) used in the HVAC industry. This amendment demonstrates the increased vigilance of the Parties in eliminating ODSs, without exception, to restore the ozone layer.
