IBC Seismic Compliance
Structural resistance to the potentially destructive forces of an earthquake has long been a design criterion for buildings. The new International Building Code (IBC) adds a key dimension: maintaining the use of designated life safety systems in certain building types immediately after a seismic event. The design professional is responsible for identifying whether mechanical equipment, including HVAC, must meet the same seismic design category as the structure. Use the following documents to acquaint yourself with the seismic requirements of the International Building Code code as they relate to HVAC equipment, and the steps McQuay has taken to provide you with compliant products: |
